As far as Den is concerned, Kenandy was the hottest ticket at Dreamforce. Kenandy is a new socialised cloud ERP for manufacturing play, partially funded by Ray Lane, ex-Oracle president and partner at Kleiner Perkins, one of the heavy hitter VC firms in Silicon Valley. Its founder, Sandra Kurtzig had been retired some 10 years so this must represent a genuine effort to do something fresh. The total seed investment is $10.5 million – not to be sniffed at.

FinancialForce.com had a great Dreamforce. In this video, Andrew Fawcett, the company’s CTO demonstrates a simple timecard application running on iPad that helps ensure that all project time is captured. It sounds like an obvious thing to do but how many vendors have thought this one through? And it’s free to FF project users.

Narinder Singh, chief strategy officer at Appirio hosted a breakfast at Dreamforce where he talked about the Cloudspokes community and the development of mobile applications. One mobile application he could not share publicly related to product merchandising. It integrates Salesforce.com data, Google maps, heat maps and digital imaging as a way of helping merchandisers configure drop shipments in different locations.

Appirio is one of the hottest integrators on the Saleforce.com circuit, routinely providing POCs in days and weeks at a fraction of the cost usually associated with development. They achieve this by running competitions among the a9,500 developers in the Cloudspokes community to find the best designs for a given brief. Given Appirio employs about 400 people, this allows Appirio access to a much richer and deeper talent pool than would be possible if it had to continue staffing up. How cool is that?

Jeff Nolan is one of Den’s all time favourite people. Now running product marketing at GetSatisfaction, Den caught Jeff on camera briefly talking about the new stuff coming from the company. For those unfamiliar with the company, GetSatisfaction provides a platform through which businesses can keep in touch with customers and help solve problems. Den has recommended the service to many companies.
